HOLLYWOOD'S WORLD OF FLESH

Hollywood starlets caught off guard in moments of truth and passion!

1963 · 1h 12m · NR · Documentary · IMDB TMDB

Hilariously bogus "documentary on the film capital of the world" inspired by the Italian mondo movie genre. A look at adult book stores, grindhouses, strip joints, "Figure Model Photography Studios" and midnight pool parties. This is more cynical sexploitation from director Lee Frost and producer Bob Cresse, the loveable hucksters.

Synopsis

Hollywood's World of Flesh certainly isn't a masterpiece or even a good movie but considering the genre it's a part of it really isn't that bad. The film's main goal was to show off various ladies naked and it does that just fine but I will give this one a little bit more credit since it's rather well-made and features a couple nice locations.

In the early 60's USA, it was hard to make nudie movies, with the obscenity laws of the time, which defined obscenity as having "no redeeming social value". To get around this, some clever filmmakers disguised their nudie flicks as documentaries, to educate the public about naked ladies, and thereby perform a valuable service to society. "Hollywood's World of Flesh" is one such socially redeeming documentary.
