Born in Pisa, Tuscany, he began his career as a screenwriter, contributing to various Italian films. Pierotti made his directorial debut with The Last of the Vikings (1961), a historical adventure film. He continued to explore adventure and historical themes with films like Hercules and the Masked Rider (1963) and The Adventurer of Tortuga (1965).
